Artist Statement
In order for a piece of work to be successful it must
have visual presence, and at all times it must be visually
engaging! The painting has to grab the viewer's attention
and draw them closer. As an artist you want the viewer to
want to know more, to take a second or third look.
Traditionally speaking most great work evokes a sense of
mystery and ambiguity. Enough information given to invite
the audience in without having to provide verbal or written
information to explain why. This approach is evident in the
paintings and drawings of Steve Woolard.
